In the summer of 1979, Jim and Joyce Van Schaack visited Ireland. An island of 32,589 square miles, smaller than the state of Main. Norther Ireland shares the island. It is part of The United Kingdom. We left the west coast of Great Britain by ferry and landed at the harbor near Dublin, Ireland. Our first stop was Dublin City, Ireland’s principal city for 1000 years. The city of Dublin was building a new civic center. While digging foundations they found ancient Roman ruins. In 1989 Jim and Joyce Van Schaack visited Italy. They began their trip in Milan and worked their way south to Sorrento. They visited an early shopping mall, a great cathedral, saw a statue of Leonardo Di Vinci. visited a palace in Milan. In Genoa they visited an early home of Christopher Columbus. The went to the Baptistery and the Cathedral in Pisa and the leaning bell tower. Next they toured to the beautiful city of Florence and went on to tour Rome. Next they went to the city of Capri and then to Pompeii, Venice and next they stayed

Jim Van Schaack III and Linda Refro got married on April 12, 1975 at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. The Wedding reception was held at Jack and Gloria Walter’s home in Irvine California. After the wedding, Jim and Linda moved to Telluride, Colorado to begin their new life together.

In 1979 Jim Van Schaack and Joyce Van Schaack visited London, England in the UK. The visited among other things, the Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, and early English castle and they enjoy the changing of the guard as well as an armor and weapons display there. They visited Westminster Abbey, on of the United Kingdom’s most notable religious buildings. They also visited Buckingham Palace and watched the changing of the guards and visited the Palace of Westminster, Parliament, London House of Lords and the House of Commons.
