A Visit to Pompeii Italy in 1989

In 1989 Jim Van Schaack and Joyce Van Schaack visited the ancient Roman city of Pompeii in Italy. Mount Vesuvius erupted on August 24, 79AD. Pompeii was buried in volcanic ash for 2000 years. 1500 to 2000 people died due to the eruption. Excavation of Pompeii began in 1748 and continues today. You will see plaster casting of victims of the volcano and some homes that survived the eruption.
